Cui Pijiang said that during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, the coking industry conscientiously implemented the major decisions and deployment of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to implement the innovation-driven development strategy, continued to promote supply-side structural reform, accelerated transformation and upgrading, and made considerable progress in the development of the industry. According to Cui Pijiang, at present, among the member enterprises of China Coke Association, 5 national research and development centers (technology centers), 2 national testing centers, 12 provincial research and development centers (technology centers) and 4 municipal research and development centers (technology centers) have been established. The completion of these research and development centers has built a scientific research and development system with strong basic theoretical research capacity, complete industrial chain, sound standard system and strong technical force for China's coking industry.

Two major contradictions and six major problems still restrict the development of the industry
While affirming the achievements made in the innovative development of coking industry, Cui Pijiang pointed out that there are still two major contradictions and six major problems in the development of coking industry in China, and there is still a certain gap between China and developed countries.
"Resolving overcapacity, effectively solving the problem of unbalanced and insufficient development, and the contradiction between the reasonable arrangement of local interests, enterprise interests, and employee interests, as well as the contradiction between the implementation of national laws and regulations and the optimization and adjustment of the overall layout of regional industries, and the reasonable distribution of interests among industries, will restrict the coking industry to move towards higher quality development in the future," Cui Pijiang said, "At the same time, the six major problems emerging in the coking industry cannot be ignored."
Specifically, first, the economic operation of the coking industry is still in the process of transformation from the old system to the new one. The unified, open and orderly competitive market system needs to be improved. The achievements of the coking enterprises in safety production, occupational health, energy conservation and emission reduction need to be further consolidated and improved. Second, scientific decision-making, lean management, efficient operation system and reasonable distribution mechanism of coking enterprises need to be further improved. Cui Pijiang believes that in the next five years, China will still be the largest steel consumption market in the world. Cui Pijiang has unlimited expectations for the development of coking industry.
